JOHOR BAHRU — The Johor state government has vowed to take decisive action against contractors appointed by the Johor Bahru City Council (MBJB) after they were captured on closed-circuit television (CCTV) running over a dog.
A Johor executive council (exco) member addressed the disturbing event, assuring the public that the state administration is taking the matter seriously and will not tolerate such behavior. The pledge comes in response to mounting public anger after video footage of the incident began circulating on social media platforms.
The CCTV recording, which clearly shows the contractor’s vehicle striking the animal, has drawn sharp condemnation from local residents and animal welfare advocates. Many are calling for immediate accountability, stricter oversight of council-appointed workers, and justice for the victimized dog.
As the local governing body, MBJB is expected to cooperate fully with investigations and review the conduct of its third-party service providers to prevent similar acts of negligence or cruelty from occurring in the future.
