KUALA LUMPUR — The Malaysian government has officially extended the “Simen Rahmah” (Rahmah Cement) initiative, earmarking a massive 1.6 million tonnes of cement specifically for the construction of affordable housing across the nation.
The continuation of this crucial subsidy program aims to shield the affordable housing sector from fluctuating market prices of raw construction materials. Under the Simen Rahmah scheme, cement is supplied at a discounted rate to registered developers of affordable housing projects. This cost-saving measure is designed to keep the final selling prices of residential units stable, ensuring they remain accessible to the B40 and M40 demographics.
